Amy: “Honey, my favorite house in Bluffton is for sale!”
Clint (thinking): “Can she be serious?” (outloud) “Honey, you wouldn’t want to move back into town.”
Amy: “Well, I hear it has five acres with it, and that it’s UNBELIEVABLE, and I’m sure that it has so much CHARACTER!”
Clint: (thinking): “Maybe if I don’t say anything, she’ll get the hint”
Amy: “Well, can we look at it?”
Clint: “Absolutely not – that’s the last thing we need. I do not want another old crooked house!”
That pretty much ended things, until sweet, well meaning Irene Frauhiger comes up to me in church on Sunday, and begins to tell me all about this wonderful, STRAIGHT AS AN ARROW, old home. I listen, spell bound, and then, on the way home from church, we basically repeat the above conversation. By now, Clint’s getting nervous, and feels compelled to give me a dose of reality by pulling out pictures of our current house, before we updated it, and in the process.
You know, it’s a funny thing. Looking at the pictures, I seem to forget all the late, late nights, the stress, the money arguments discussions…..somehow, looking back, I remember it as being FUN! A challenge…..A project completed…..A goal accomplished…..
Poor Clint! The picture thing might not have been the best way to discourage me.
Don’t worry, we have no plans of moving, but I can still dream….
